Ambon has a tragic
story of war by the basis of religion. According to Iskandar Slameth, one of
the Moslem’s Jihad Army Leaders in Ambon, as cited by BBC Indonesia News, the
war was begun on Iedul Fitri, January 19, 1999 when one of the moslem’s
religious promoter was shot by arrow.
The war went
on until Malino’s Agreement in 2002. Even though there was a treaty at Malino,
the situation still at its height until there was a real understanding between
people who were fighting one another in Ambon. Ronald Regan and many of the
Agas “Christian” Army Leaders, came into understanding with Iskandar and other
Moslem’s Jihadis Army Leaders that they had no purpose of war and the war did
not give any advantage to all of them and also Ambon itself. Therefore they
were starting to befriends again which was closer than before, to have peace,
and to participated in Interfaith Institution initiated by Priest Jack and and
Ustadz Abidin Wakano in 2004. They were hoping that Ambon’s conflict will never
rise anymore.
The Ambon’s
Conflict itself had many victims. It is counted that up to 5.000 people died
and more than half of million persons fled from Ambon to surrounding Maluku
islands. Ambon’s Economy also sank to the lowest till it began to recover in
2011. That year highlighted by the building of Merah Putih Bridge and some
supermarkets and hotels.
The Office of
State Asset and Auction Services (KPKNL) in Ambon, one of Directorate General
of State Asset Management (DGSAM) vertical units, has been supporting the diversity
even since the Ambon’s war tragedy. KPKNL Ambon, located in City Central which
is Christian Territory, has many christian employees which are working together
with its Moslem’s workmates. The employees of KPKNL Ambon are helping one another
to find refugee for their counterparts or claiming that their Moslem’s partners
are their closed family so the Moslems are able to safely come home.
Nowadays, it’s
an old story to remember. KPKNL Ambon still support the Ministry of Finance
(MoF) Programs to support harmony in diversity, particularly in the religious
activity. Currently, as of March 21, 2019, KPKNL Ambon has 26 employees,
consist of 14 Moslems and 12 Protestant Christians. All of KPKNL Ambon
employees are joining hands together to support each other religious activity,
i.e. the Protestants have respect the Moslems to pray on Friday in the Mosque

also have respect on the Protestants to eat pig, while the Moslems do not join
it. The Protestants also have respect when the Moslems have their five time
prayers a day. The Office support it by giving the Moslems musholla in every
